Each month the Portage Team Meeting includes Speech Language Therapy and Chatty Therapies. The Portage Team are supported by their Area Senior Practitioner and have close links with Children Centre Practitioners. As shared children begin to be settled back into nursery, the Portage Team will liaise with Setting Senco’s to advise what support has been given whilst the children have been at home.

Shared strategies and targets can be agreed for Playplans in nursery and for home support.

Chatty Therapies

Jo Clarke is a Speech and Language Therapist who has been commissioned to support children with complex communication needs through a Service Level Agreement with Chatty Therapies.

Jo has provided remote support so far to some of our Portage Families and has produced some training materials which have been shared with our EYSEND Team. She is very keen to extend her support to settings and has began to contact setting Senco’s to offer her support initially for children with an EHCP in place. For more information regarding support from Chatty Therapies, please contact either Kirsty Stedman or Noelle Aspinall who will explain the referral process for Jo’s support and share her contact details.

Although Jo is keen to begin face to face support for children in nursery and at home, this has not yet been agreed and her support remains to be remotely only during the COVID 19 situation until further notice.

All of the SEND Team are here to support you in the best way we can during this difficult time. As the rules during COVID 19 relax and new guidance is issued we look forward to seeing you all in person again very soon.

Until then hope the above information is helpful, take care and stay safe.

Future Professional Development

If you are an experienced Setting SENCO who would be interested in gaining a Level 3 Senco Award accredited by NASEN then please look out for further information to follow soon.

Thanks everyone for your commitment to SEND and to supporting our children and their families in Knowsley.
