At this critical time in a child or young person’s life there are a number of services offering help or advice to ensure that children & young people have a smooth transition into nursery/childcare, primary school and then secondary school.

If you are over 16 and considering colleges or moving into employment there is information available on our Becoming an Adult section.

Schools

Most children with SEND will attend their local mainstream school, i.e. Knowsley Primary Schools or Knowsley Secondary Schools these links will take you to the relevent section and you will be able to view the individual schools and their SEN information.  If your child has more specialised needs we have some Knowsley Special Schools & the Pre School Portage team who can support your child's education. 

We also have information about Independent/nonmaintained special educational needs schools, that may be based in or outside Knowsley.

Health Support for children & young people with SEND

  • Fullerton Grove provides children with disabilities that meet the criteria and their families overnight breaks (Respite).

Care & Support

The Children with Disabilities service supports children up to the age of 18 who have learning disabilities, a physical or sensory impairment, chronic and life threatening or life limiting illness or multiple disabilities.

Play and Leisure (including Short Breaks) - Knowsley council works in partnership with children, young people, families and other agencies to meet the needs of children and young people with disabilities by organising and providing a wide range of support and services.

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation are the charity for people with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges.
