END OF TERM NEWSLETTER, END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Dear All,
The team would like to thank you for all the support that you have shown us through this academic year. I am sure you will all agree that as well as being a very difficult year, it has also been a very different one! During this year we have learnt new ways of communicating and adjusting our lifestyles so that we can look after each other and keep everyone safe.
The team has had the added difficulty of shortage of staff and therefore a waiting list has been created. Another factor into creating this list was that since Lockdown Knowsley has welcomed many new families. Many of these are from Brazil, as well as many other different countries around the world. To celebrate this, the team are going to introduce to schools a ‘Language of the Month’. This will focus on language, customs, and religions of the country where the language is spoken.
Despite Lockdowns and restrictions in the way we work, the team has managed to keep in touch with the students we are supporting, as well as providing schools with specific resources to help children. In September we are hoping to meet the families of our children by hosting coffee mornings/afternoons.
We are currently in the process of adding an intensive learning programme called EALIP onto the Knowsley Information page. This programme is divided into 3 sections – Early Years, Primary and Secondary. Each section contains many workbooks which teachers/parents/carers can work through with the child. The programme is to be done daily for 15/20 minutes and each workbook builds upon the skill before it. There are also accompanying PowerPoints to guide adults through the programme.
And finally….at the end of term Jan Lee who is the Service line manager is retiring. On behalf of the team and myself we would like to wish Jan good health and every happiness in her ‘new’ life. Jan has given the team lots of good advice and support and always helped when we needed her expertise.
