HomeStart provides a support service for families - recruiting and training volunteers to support parents with young children at home.  We work with families with at least one child under the age of 11.

Includes Fit4Life Health & Wellbeing programme.

New services:

Sunrise Project - 1-1 support for those with low level mental ill-health.
Out & About Project - support for parents/carers of children with additional needs and/or disabilities.

Core Offer

Universal: Level 1Children having their needs met through accessing universal services such as schools, health visiting, GP and so on. - Level 1: UniversalChildren having their needs met through accessing universal services such as schools, health visiting, GP and so on.

• 1-1 targeted support by volunteer peer supporters for familiies with a child under 11 either in the home or to access services/specialist provision in the communiy.  Volunteers trained & supervised by qualified staff who negotiate Early Intervention Targeted Support Plan with family.

Universal: Level 1Children having their needs met through accessing universal services such as schools, health visiting, GP and so on. Plus - Level 2: Universal PlusTargeted response by single agency to support the additional needs.  Targeted services for children and families beginning to experience – or at risk of – difficulties, for example school counselling, parenting programmes, support for teenage parents and so on.

• 1-1 targeted support provided by qualified/trained staff working alongside other professionals as part of CP/ The Team Around the Family (TAF) is a model of service provision where a range of different practitioners come together to help and support a child or young person. Essentially it is a ‘virtual’ team of involved professionals brought together – with the family’s consent – to devise a plan of action to support the child and their family. The plan of action is based on needs identified using the Early Help Assessment Form. /CinN Plan - especially if family is known to us and there is a history of non-engagement with statutory services.

• 6 x 2hour sessions covering healthy eating, practical cooking, stress busting, budgeting advice, growing session, parenting advice, benefits of exercise, health priorities.

Big Hopes Big Futures School Readiness

• This is run as a short course delivered in the home by specially trained volunteers. 1-1 support to help parents create a positive learning environment for their children.

Breastfeeding Peer Support

• Training & supervision of breastfeeding volunteers who run drop-ins across Knowsley and awareness-raising events and promotion. Plus 1-1 support and phone support.
