The Sensory Impairment Service 0 – 25 years is a centrally held education service for any child or young person with a diagnosed hearing or visual disability within the borough of Knowsley available from birth.  There are two services that they provide help through:  The Service for the Sensory Impaired (Visually impaired) and The Service for the Sensory Impaired (Hearing Impairment Service)

The Orthoptic Specific Learning Difficulties Clinic is a clinic run by Orthoptists to help children with eye problems related to or contributing to a specific learning difficulty.

Knowsley Council Visual Impairment Habilitation Service for Children and Young People is a service for Children and Young People ( ) with a Visual Impairment ( )

The Centre for Independent Living deliver a Visual Impairment Service (Rehabilitation) in Knowsley to people who experience non-correctable sight loss.

Retina UK is the national charity for families living with inherited retinal dystrophies.  They fund research and provide information and support to those affected by inherited sight loss and the professionals who support them. They support anyone with the following visual impairments: Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Rod Cone dystrophy, Cone Rod dystrophy, Choroideremia, Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease.

The Children's Audiology Service aims to make sure children have the best hearing levels possible.  The age range of children and young people they see is 0-18 across Halton, St Helens and Knowsley.

The Hearing Screening Unit offer a Newborn Hearing Screen to all babies with either a GP in our area or who are born at Whiston Hospital

National Deaf Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a highly specialised mental health service for deaf children and young people with mental health issues.  The service also accepts referrals for hearing children of deaf parents (see below for who this service is for). The team has a great deal of experience working with children and young people with SEND.

The Deafness Resource Centre provides services that aim to empower, support and enhance the quality of life of D/deaf people in the St Helens, Halton and Knowsley areas.

The School of Sign Language offer a free online British Sign Language Course (BSL) and there is a course you can purchase at Merseyside Society for Deaf People who are are a charity that offer a variety of services ranging from Social Care, Support Work and Equipment services to basic Sign Language courses, Interpreting Courses and Deaf Awareness training.
